Shreveport Game Night
Would you
like to be a part of a group
that meets
every week to play card & board games?
Shreveport Game Night
started out as a group of friends meeting at a local coffee house
and playing card and board games together. From there, we
moved on to the Robinson Film Center and enjoyed having a weekly get
together at the Robinson where we played every Wednesday night.
It was fun.

Along the way, we
discovered a few truths to any organization. A
successful group needs to have a core group of cheerleaders, who are
there all the time to welcome new comers. The purpose of the
group needs to be clearly defined and there
should be some form of leadership that everyone participates in.
In our case, when an individual joined our group that some members
didn't like, they stopped coming. No one likes drama. In
time, we became four.
Then the floods of
2009 came and one of the member's home flooded and he wasn't able to
participate any longer. Within a few weeks, it was decided
that we should go on holiday and start fresh after the first of the
year. That simply hasn't happened yet. I wonder if there
are people that want to be involved.

SO THE QUESTION IS.....
WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME OUT AN PLAY?
The answer to that
question will determine what happens to this concept of a
traditional game night group in Shreveport. We need a core
group of people that are interested in making this what it can
become.

If we find enough people that are interested in this concept, we
will again research various locations and connect with a local
venue to establish the game night. It's possible that we
may need to change nights, to fit the most number of people.

GAMES WE LIKE TO PLAY:
Our group was typically playing traditional card and board games.
We've decided not to play the type of strategy games that are
typically only sold in the gamer stores or online and sometimes
referred to "Modern Euro Strategy Games" and instead focused
our group on the typical games that you and your family might find
in department stores and in your closet. As a matter of
information, there is a Strategy Game group that meets on another
night at a local pizza parlor if you are interested in playing the
Euro Strategy Games.
Our
focus is on easy to play, more widely known games that you and your
family might typically play at home, as we are not "real gamers",
just out for a fun evening.
Some of the games that
we have played, or will play at some point are listed below,
although this is not an complete list. If you have a game that
you would like to introduce to our group, you are welcome to suggest
it and we will consider adding it to our playlist. The focus
is as much the friendship as it is the game. We want to have
fun, and meet new people!
